Funny that you guys and MCM both had full gas tank debacles in your latest videos
Connect the old pump to a switch and pump out the fuel
Love the attention to detail, I can’t stand other channels that go through all the hard work and leave the small things out, it’s the small things that count in the end 👍🏼
Love the sti build !! Keep it up guys
Moose could have lifted the transmission by himself.
That aem fuel pump is good to 510whp on a dyno pack, pump gas, I've tested it to the max on my sti. Now I have a radium double pumper
I can watch this kind of stuff alll day. 👍
Put the American flag over your Canadian flag dude.
wire tie lololololol
If it makes you guys feel any better my '14 WRX hatch has rust on the filler neck plate as well. But it wasn't abandoned!
This is the 3rd or 4th video I've seen in the last couple of weeks where someone was going to do a fuel pump and the tank was full. I don't know if there's a way to check fuel level on a "non running" car, but I will definitely find out before doing my next fuel pump job.
It’s going to get abandoned again once it’s done
Yea I would not use that fuel. It prob mostly water. Which means a leak
Good thing the tank was full.. because if it was empty that would mean is full of oxygen and moisture which means it would’ve been rusted out on the inside.
Nice you guys checked out Blake’s garage. 🤘🏼👊🏼
Does the new engine have vvt for the intake and exhaust?
hundreds of people going to Blake's Garage, awesome
How much money and how many hours of work? You do know how shitty Suckaru motors are right?
Why not siphon out the tank when you have the pump out?
how to fill your gas, pump it till its spilling out the filler neck.
Nice that you gave Blake a nice shout out. Been watching his channel for his e30 content! Great diy how too on his channel.
Knowledge with Nam! Love this guy!
Always appreciate Nam's knowledge! That bad boy needs some red tail light overlays
Just an FYI (more for anyone watching the video), ARP sells a slightly shorter stud that might fit in without pulling the hub off at all. It's listed for the FRS/BRZ, but it's the same knurl, diameter and thread pitch. IIRC it's 1/2" shorter than the WRX/STI one, but still much longer than stock.
as someone who lives in the GTA where can i get e85?
Watching this channel feels like watching TLC or HGTV where the presenters always pose like they're doing the work but the real techs are behind the camera and never shown. Love the project but some of the methods here are sketchy and you guys never look confident like you actually know how to use a hammer
damn im supprised you guys didnt use a monoloc ….
0:13 talk about living the dream!
Can this be the new time attack car 😀 ?
Nice shout out to Blake's Garage! Are you guys excited? It's almost runing again.
r u guys gonna switch to a more efficient twin scroll turbo?
or are you guys gonna run the classic unequal length headers for that rumble or gonna switch to equal length headers?
A full and sealed fuel tank will keep the fuel tank away from rust.
15:18 Fumes getting to you
love the way this build is turning out!
If I were you, i would put a close ended nut on the stud before hammering it with a rubber mallet. This way you can save them lug for later. A mallet is all you need to ensure you don't deform the hub or shock the bearing. Yes, you can shock the ball bearings by hitting it with a hammer.
Nothing beats free lawnmower gas
Please guys do not try and start the car with that old fuel. I know you likely won't but i just don't want to see that beautiful built motor damaged by some old gas
Awesome video series! If you're going to have to unbolt the wheel bearing, you might as well pull the whole thing out and use a press. Also, the throwout bearing can go in backwards… be careful of that. Good idea to test the clutch before bolting everything else up!
14:01 thanks for the shoutout guys! Definitely some tricky little things you need to watch in my video like why they come with two o-rings. It's a must so you don't get fuel cavatiaion from air getting sucked in. Also always remover to change the in tank fuel filter when you have it out.
Really expected the bay to be somewhat detailed prior to the installation of the motor to match the exterior job you guys have done
Grease on the input shaft splines of the transmission huh…
Love the build! The GR chassis is my daily and now you've one up'd me in 3 videos on my build. Looking forward to some summer laps. Cheers from Oregon, USA =)
Hi from England, loving the channel and subaru looking great ,can't wait to see and hear that beauty rolling ,fantastic job guys .
Nam is incredible and irreplaceable. A well of knowledge beyond belief.
jackin' a tranny eh?
I watch commercials so Pete can get the mop chopped with gold plated sheers and DP can continue his beard growth supplements.
Put a nut on end of stud and hammer stud. Never directly hammer stud
Hope to see you guys in this sti on the road in Hamilton soon!
Get a tomei 👀
Can't wait to see what engine management is going to be used for this.
Shout out to Nam
Also shout out to daves purdy mouth reference 😀😀
Wells that’s gas is not even 83 octane probably like 40 ish lol
Smashed it ten times!!
installing wheel studs like that you have a decent chance of stripping the threads… just an fyi
Is that the original engine?
Definitely one of my favorite Sti builds on YouTube. You make me want to get this year Sti.
Looking to get this generation WRX for a winter daily up here in MN. So it's another plus to watching your builds 🙂
I don't understand why they decided to beat on brand new hubs with a sledge. The cv axle and nut provide the necessary clamping force to keep the bearings tight on the races, so without the axles installed the rollers bearings were slamming into the races. You even loosened the 4 bolts holding the hubs to the spindle!
A price breakdown of your builds would be super helpful to keep this realistic for the average person.
Use marvel oil with the old gas it will help clean the gas and flush out bad stuff
Great tip on the wire tie, and great video period.
When installing the arp studs like that (which the instructions clearly tell you that you shouldnt – But I usually do as well) – Use a nut, some sort of socket and a pair of washers – And spray it with WD40. Otherwise the threads can get really fucked up, they can even get too hot and loose the hardening. You can tell that you lost some of the zink plating on some threads, which wont happen with some WD40 as lube.
I believe if you have two O-rings supplied with AEM pump you should use both.
Curious if you will have issues with filling the tank because of the filler neck. Common issue
Awesome video again!
Enjoying the build so far 🙂
Might want to add circuitmaster clutch cylinder brace and ITS pedal bracket support while at it. Those two will help avoid any future firewall spot weld breaking issue.
Keep up the good work!
Nam could probably assemble a Subaru with his eyes closed, that guy knows his stuff. The STi is truly coming along nicely. So nice to see it restored instead of sitting and rotting away.
This sti is coming along great!! I freaking love it!! You guys going to make a video of how much it costs??
Pete, what the hell man. You’ve been in this game for a long time, it’s EN-KAY not EN-KEE… 🤦🏻♂️
2:10 a 24oz hammer and a 1/4 swing, save the sledge for putting them back in. they come out easy and are hard to get back in.
It felt good seeing you guys restore the shifter assembly and filler neck trim instead of buying new ones, it reminds me of Tom's turbo garage
Great content. Some folks run dual o-rings on the fuel pumps as leaks can occur when using a single o-ring causing fuel pressure gremlins when tuning.
if you have to loosen the bolts that hold the hub in place anyways, why not remove it and press out the studs and reduce risk to the bearing?
This is the best build since the ASS2000
This is all of the win! Cannot wait to see more
So much progress on this build! Ready to hear it rumble!
Those perrin mounts are real nice. Also really expensive. I like mine but didn't enjoy opening my wallet for them.
APR they long been known for Headstuds. No brakets; no Vaseline.
Yo. Just got a 2010 subaru impreza 2.0d and was wondering where I can get the rear wing that this subaru has?? Anyone know?
Could of cleaned the undercarriage and then painted it/painted gearbox also. All new control arms etc and a dirty undercarriage 😔
Give the STi to the drift build-off winner.
I wanted a Hawkeye STi but after seeing this video I want an STi hatch now with a wing lol.
Hey guys! Great channel, had one question tho. Do you guys sell the old parts? The the intercooler an piping an old turbo an wastegate. I have an 09 wrx and I could use all that stuff to rebuild for my build. Please let me know
Ask NV to show you what they are installing on Tuesday on my STI. It will solve all your shifter issues and make it even more track!
CAE has us subie guys covered
these videos are all I look forward to on rainy days. great job guys i cant wait to make videos like this.
Love to see this whole build being done right. Every bushing, painting/cleaning every part, new parts…keep up the good work!
If that car is considered abandoned then the cars i fix must be left for dead….
🔥🔥 learning alot from you guys
About 10k easy in parts
Over kill on that hammer bro. Jesus b
I prefer the Beatrush engine mount design myself.
Loving this restoration project! Nice videos guys!
Just out for a rip are ya bud?
You need to add this to the playlist. I got all sorts of confused
Now I gotta pee…
