Those back balljoints, a lot of ppl burn them out of the housing if u guys want to save that arm
Drift car build off prize?
Remember when you got the mustang and put coilovers in it and then said it was the fastest car you had driven around the track that you owned and then you got rid of it. That probably would have been a better starting point to beat the GTR.
All the people that thought this build was an April fools joke.
This s going to be a lonnngg build haha I am excited. Keen to keep seeing progress. Keep it up guys.
Hearing what your goals are for this series has just pushed game of thrones to number two on my "must watch" list.
The title was total click bate…
This will decimate all after you put about 15 grand in it, or more… if you have to, overnight parts from Japan.
I was secretly hoping you guys would make a rally car out of this.
Name. The. Subaru. (. Subie the. Subaru)
give it some coke, coke get rid of rust XP
Man I love working on rusty cars.
Growing up working on cars in Chicago and now living in Texas I do not miss the rust wow. Thanks for the reminder. Does everywhere in Canada use salt or varies like the states with sand /chemical mixes
Such a tease when the e46 is so close to being done
LOL a Subaru build = endless content. Because subaru's are never not broken.
Add lightness, and grip. Shouldnt be to hard to beat a heavy gtr.
Is powder coating a good way to protect against rust? Asking for a friend lol
Great video. Crazy how much rust collects up north!
Pour some kitty litter on the stain and ground it up with the sole of your shoe
GTR beater! I support!
I don’t know what just happened lol
Make sure you take care of the recalls – I have a 2012 I bought new and the thing was recalled twice to rust-proof the rear brake lines running over the gas tank. I'm pretty sure all GRs are vulnerable to those brake lines rusting out. I also have a pending recall for a Takata airbag inflator, passenger side. Dealership says there's no parts available yet though.
Love the subaru content. Although I do wish it was a GD chassis
Make sure to flush that oil cooler before putting the new engine in. You would be surprised at how much bearing material and derbies can get trapped in there.
when you go through bad winters and don't wash you car…. poor thing
Dave why you grabbing shafts at sema ?? SmH lol
Great Stuff guys! Keeping a close eye on this project.
Restoring that is gonna cost alooooooooot of money but god its gonna be nice when its done
Use sawdust instead! Itll pick up everything better than anything else!
Should have got a HONDA FOLLOW A LEADER HONDA!!
13:45 Mission failed, we'll get em next time
I complain about living in Oklahoma until I see the rust…
Sneaky Pete vs Sneaky DP!
If you guys are looking to get rid of all those parts getting replaced, I'd love to take them off your hands for my build!
Can you nickle plate the hubs? Will that protect them while also not having to worry about taping sections off?
dirty bong water hahahhaha
you guys need some pitman pullers
I don't know what is used on the roads down east for salt but in Saskatchewan we use potash and vehicles don't rust like this.I have a 99 outback that has no rust on the sub frames. the only rust on the car is just starting on the rear quarters like every first generation outback ever
Powdercoat in neon yellow
Decent fuel system, fp green, Cobb AP, flex fuel…easy 500 wheel with an awesome power band! I'd definitely invest in an IAG aos too!
What happened to the hoist?
Consider performing the clutch pedal bracket reinforcement on the car while its apart. GR's exhibit the problem pretty bad.
I’m a little surprised they don’t consider the oil sitting in the inter cooler might be more of a result of the engine having been blown and removed rather than evidence of a lack of maintenance…
Tool Inception. Removal tool within a removal tool.
USE PB BLASTER you’ll thank me later, I promise.
Here's an idea for a future video. How does one avoid that kind of rust disaster from occurring? Do you like wash the chassis/belly with a pressure washer weekly or what?
That STI is like anal… The deeper you go the browner it gets.
And here I was thinking the car was going to get raffled off to a subscriber so they could have it as a daily driver! 😂
Rust? HAAA!!! I run a Subaru shop in Juneau Alaska. If you can get the subframe bolts to turn and come out without the thread inserts coming disassociated from the frame sections its nothing short of a miracle. That's a great lookin subframe…wanna send it to me? LOL good content
They make LS swap kits for these cars….why not go bold and do that with a turbo, Sloppy mechanics style, and go blow some minds at the track with it?
👍👍👍👍wanna sell me the used oil cooler & lines ? [email protected]
Rally Rally Rally !!!!
Might of well buy a new car
Rebuild the diff and go with raxles idk how much power the oem ones can handle but atleast ig you upgrade them you wont have to worry bout them getting destroyed when you launch
A bit of surface rust on the large components is nothing and won't harm them. Try working on 10yrs old+ British cars.
why use a pickle fork and not a proper ball joint tool?
Abandoned? Looks fine to me
In the same boat for MY02. You guys probably already have an idea in mind, but check out energy suspension parts
You guys have more money into car covers than I do into my project car
Home Depot box of 24 or so gorilla gloves 🤙🏽🤙🏽 my box is going on year 2 and haven’t had to buy more yet.
Fucking retards that can't talk without saying "like" all the time should get an education
That's not rusty. You should own a car in the UK lol
I feel your pain. I have spent years of my life under Subies. The end result will be worth it!
Very ambitious and interesting goal. You've got my attention. Seeing that Sti all neglected kills me inside. So sad.
That is not rusty, by British standards it's mint.
Living in Australia, I’ve never seen rust like that on any Subaru ever
That car looks like it was abandoned due to flood damage bro. No way is it that rusty and that much water still sitting in the pipes.
Probably the worst thing about being a mechanic in a salty state, rust
Interested in some of the parts you guys will be replacing! Rotors, sway bars… local so drop me a line if you are looking to move them. John
that's need a lot of $$$ for the replacement…
Hey Dave. If you're looking for a reliable daily subie, I'm selling my 05 Legacy GT limited. Serviced at NV Auto.
C'mon Guys, you do all that work and then leave the subframe in there.
Dang all that rust!! You guys are dedicated for sure! I'm happy to live in Arizona and not deal with rust lol
People : Subaru's are unreliable engine blowing trash machines!Me: When's the last time you changed your oil?People: …yes?
Couldn't the previous owner sell the parts before it all rusted away?
guys, are impreza's all designed by the same guy? because it's really weird, no matter HOW f*cked up the impreza looks, ever year a new one comes out, no matter HOW much we hate it, and HOW much we think OMFG thats it, im never buying an impreza again., it's ruined". how come, EVERY SINGLE TIME, as soon as you put the nice bits on them, the bigger wheels, the head and rear light covers, the bonet scoops, the wings, flare wheel arches and lower them, they all of a sudden all SOMEHOW, just turn out to be fantastically beautiful and grow on you like a MOTHERF*CKER. HOW??? Like for instance, the one we ALL agreed was the worst looking car in history, the first NEW impreza back in what, 2002? The bug eye, when that first came out, we only saw the road version of it, no wings, no scoop, skinny wheels etc, it was DISGUSTING, and still is, if you see a 1.6TS version, they're ROTTEN looking, but even that… as soon as you fatten her up, put a splitter on the headlightetc, they turn out to be BEAUTTTIFUL. I don't think theres ANY other car manufacturer out there really where yo ucan say that every sing;e version of it, turned out to be bautiful, no matter HOW bog standard and straightforward and oring it looked. Like this is the 2nd worst example. The road version of this, non WRX or STi versons are the most boring looking cars ever, they look basically like a yaris, but as soon as you put a few little changes, they're monsters… this car is BEAUTIFUL.Anyone else agree? WHY are they so pretty? Imprezas, are they all designed by one guy or one team, also, are they designed for the sexy fat versions first then timmed down? or ugly as hell then trimmed up? One thing i know hels for sure though, if you put say, a Toyota badge in the front grill of this exact car it wouldn't look so.. i don't know, aggressivem that impreza badge always looks so detailed it always adds a little something to the front of a car, especially the Red ones.
I'm actually thinking of keeping it my self as a summer daily… thanks tho!
That car has drum brakes ?
i dont really see much rust… thats usually surface rust everywhere, nothing really eaten, mostly. The rear was worse.
I want to buy the exhaust!! Lol just because I can have it on my sti and say it was on your show!!!
"Full dirty bong spec" 😂
rust? what rust lol that's nothing…..
I much prefer Canadian car youtubers. A lot more humble
Looks like the same gloves?
Ditch the lightweight pulley and go OEM or Fluidampner
And this is where the California-based viewers have heart attacks. I love living in Canada but the winters are a definite downside.
Don't just "blast" the aluminum and leave it bare- it'll oxidize like crazy. Paint it, at the very least, with some kind of decent, tough aluminum/silver paint.
Must be a Michigan car. We expect that. Many a good car has died due to rust poisoning here. I am suprised anyone bothered putting a name brand item on that. Its going to cost more in rust removal.
powder coat both front and rear subframes theyre off anyways
great to see you guys saving an sti from it's doom
Wd40 that sheet!
Late to this playlist, but enjoying it so far.
Oh, and hatchbacks aren't wagons. Just sayin'.
There is literally 0 rust on that compared to UK Shite…
