Riding into Retirement: Meet the Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club


[ Upbeat music plays ] ♪♪ [ Engines revving ] ♪♪ ♪♪ I pray to be healthy and to be able
to chase that dream that I always wanted to do, which is just to be that cowboy
I was always wanting to be. ♪♪ I’m planning for
my retirement now. I have two years left,
and riding is what I live for. Health is a big part of that. Maintaining yourself is huge. If you don’t have your health,
you really don’t have anything. Well, when I don’t ride,
I’m not happy. I just — just like riding. And, you know — And I —
Maybe it helps to keep me young. I don’t know. I’m 79.
I’ll be 80 January 1st. I’m a very lucky man,
very lucky. And — And I know it. I try to keep my mind active,
crossword puzzles, Sudoku. I’m now trying to learn Spanish. I do a yoga class and then
a Zumba class after that. Now, every once in a while,
he makes somebody that’s made for retirement,
and I’m one of them. I want to be here
as long as possible. You get older and older
and older, and things are gonna happen
to you no matter what you do. But keep moving.
Keep exercising. And don’t
make yourself a hermit. You know,
you’ve got to have community, whether you like it or not. ♪♪ They treat you here, again,
like family. And like precious family. And what a great feeling
that is. Got to make sure Papa
don’t run away with her. [ Laughter ]
