How More Years of Retirement can Change a Life

I lost my dad in 2012 to cancer. He had a
grand total of zero days in retirement. And I think about what would have
happened if something like blooom existed. Access, this is what we’re really talking about, access to help. Not access to financial calculators and more brochures. Access to help, like “do it for me” help. I don’t want to take my own appendix out. Okay? If
something like blooom had been around in 1971 when my dad was graduating from
college, maybe, just maybe, he could have retired at 60 and had two years
with my mom to travel, spend more time with my kids, the other grandkids. That’s
what we think about. That’s what I think about at blooom. That’s where this – that’s
that’s the kind of stakes that we’re dealing with at this company. This is not
a fun, you know, “SnapCrap” whatever app that we’re
building here. I don’t think anybody’s going to get to the end of their lives
and think, “You know I’m really glad That Facebook and Snapchat existed. It changed my life.” Okay? Granted, they’re worth billions and billions and billions of dollars. We all
know about them. But, are they really making a difference in people’s lives? At blooom we
have a chance to effect this kind of shit. Like, what if – and we may never know about it. I may never, I may be long gone but maybe 30 years down the road there is a whole host of people, an entire portion of a
generation that’s maybe able to stop working 1 or 2 years sooner. What is that
worth? What’s it worth to have more time between your last day at work and your
last day on this planet? how much is that worth?
