Abandoned Ireland: A Gothic Mansion’s Shocking End Pt1

Nearly 200 years ago a rich landowner built this one-of-a-kind Fantasy mansion at vast expense over a period of 25 years Known as one of the most ornate Tudor Revival mansions in Ireland it now sits forgotten on the edge of a dark wood today I’m excited to be taking you inside and then deep into the lost under workings of its dark basements The distinct white granite outer facing sharply contrasts with the dark ivy The windows seemed to stare outwards It’s easy to see how the local legend of the apparition of a servant girl killed by lightning on a stormy night could come to existence in The tale she is said to stare through the windows on which the outline of her charred body had been burnt Well, I do not believe in spirits this ghostly frontage would not seem out of place in a gothic story by lafon you or Pope Inside a shattered staircase starts and stops – no, we’re high above It never fails to amaze me what nature can do to a place like this the tree now grows from the stair landing Ivy framed entrances lead to secret gardens an early visitor here when the house was first built Prophetically remarked that the beauty of the scene will long remain impressed upon the lover of picturesque landscapes It’s doubtful. He knew how right it’d be 200 years later One of the things I enjoy most about these places is how time seems to slow You can arrive earlier midday and leave it sunset, but if not fun of the time or any other distractions That would normally make you leave the subject the outside world ceases to exist and is replaced By a new world utterly detached in a way The Cathedral like pillars and minarets are evident at every turn. This was considered the most ornamented mansion of its time The set of windows would be my setting for the local needs ghostly tale Well, it’s easy to get lost in a place like this It’s always good to look up and down as you can see below parts of the floor of collapse leaving a pit to below And above this the doorway is crumbling as well to the other side another pit with a broken stair sharp and rusty handrails and a cave-like hole And to the other side an even deeper pit joke with rubble and trash where the whole floor is now collapsed One of the most dangerous parts is finding the stone vaulting is simply arrived Far above an old fireplace sits below aspire As we return to the K black entrance to below we are caught During this accidentally recorded conversation with the owner that follows the shocking last days of this mansion are revealed Surprised and taken aback by the family story and Fueled by my background in Irish history that began to more deeply research the last days of this fascinating lost mansion I hope you join me next time as we delve deeply into this lost history of conflict the sprawling and dark maze like basements and the tragic ending of this forgotten place I’m Bringing you to a world of lost places lost mansions Mental asylums They need abandoned locations dust real sites And more subscribe and explore with me today
